Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, on Tuesday, flagged off the construction of the Nortra Tractor Assembly Plant and Service Centre in Enugu City. This significant project is an investment by the ODK Group of Denmark and marks a major step towards the state’s economic growth vision.
During the ceremony, Governor Mbah emphasized that the project is part of his administration’s plan to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. He noted that the assembly plant will not only create opportunities but also stimulate economic growth and create employment for the people of Enugu State.
Mbah revealed that the state has placed an order for at least 1,000 tractors, with 200 already assembled and imported, while the remaining 800 will be assembled locally in Enugu. This initiative is expected to enhance agricultural production in the state.
The Commissioner for Trade, Investment, and Industry, Adaora Chukwu, highlighted that Enugu is ODK Group’s first investment destination in Africa, praising the group’s reputation for manufacturing innovative and high-quality agricultural equipment and machinery.
The CEO of ODK Group Denmark, Mr. Morten Anderson, and the Managing Director of Nortra Tractors, Mr. Philip Njoku, expressed their satisfaction with choosing Enugu State due to its thriving innovation and commercialization environment.
In addition to the tractor assembly plant, Governor Mbah also commissioned the New-Watson Doors Industry, established by a Chinese firm at Nachi, Enugu State. He commended the company for believing in his administration’s vision and promised to continue supporting investors by creating an enabling environment.
