Former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has urged Nigerians to appreciate General Gowon’s efforts in preserving the country’s unity. Babangida highlighted Gowon’s leadership during the civil war and his post-war policies of reintegration, reconciliation, and reconstruction. General Gowon’s administration was marked by several key achievements, including the completion of the Kainji Dam, the rebuilding of the Niger Bridge, and the expansion of the road network. He also played a crucial role in international affairs, contributing to the liberation movements in Africa and founding the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
