The electricity distribution companies (Discos) in Nigeria dey lament say the Federal Government no dey pay the electricity subsidies as promised. Dis issue dey cause serious tension among the Discos because dem say the lack of subsidy payment dey affect their ability to provide stable electricity to consumers.
According to reports, the Discos dey struggle to maintain their operations due to the financial burden caused by the non-payment of subsidies. Dem argue say the government’s failure to fulfill its obligations dey lead to significant financial losses and operational challenges.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Discos have been at odds over the proposed increase in electricity tariffs. While the government propose a tariff increase to help the Discos, the companies dey insist say the real problem be the unpaid subsidies which dem need to sustain their operations.
The situation dey worsen as the Discos threaten to reduce their services if the government no address the issue of unpaid subsidies. Consumers dey fear say dis could lead to more frequent power outages and higher electricity bills.
