The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a strict three-month ultimatum to owners of undeveloped and abandoned properties in the Federal Capital City. This move is aimed at addressing the growing security risks posed by these uncompleted buildings and undeveloped plots.
According to Chief Felix Obuah, the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) Coordinator, these abandoned structures have become hideouts for individuals with questionable characters, posing serious security challenges to the residents of the FCT. Obuah emphasized the need for urgent action to mitigate this situation and restore order in the city.
Property owners have been directed to take necessary steps to develop and secure their properties within the specified three-month timeframe. Failure to comply with this directive could result in severe consequences, including the revocation of land titles and the demolition of the abandoned structures.
The FCT Administration is determined to enhance security and ensure orderly urban development across the capital city. The rapid expansion of illegal settlements has been a significant concern, with fears that these areas could become breeding grounds for criminal activity.
The Administration is urging all stakeholders to comply with the directive and work together to maintain the city’s security and integrity. By addressing the issue of abandoned and undeveloped properties, the FCTA aims to create a safer, more orderly environment for all residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
