Enugu State Government don dey take serious action against kidnappers for the state. Dem just demolish one notorious kidnappers’ den wey dey located in Nike, inside Enugu East Local Government Area. Dis action be part of their ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping.
The kidnappers’ den, wey be twin semi-detached bungalows in Nokpa, near Alulu, na where dem dey hold kidnap victims while dem dey wait for ransom payments. According to Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, Uche Anya, dis den be where one gang of hardened criminals take two people, Chibuoke Charles and Mr. Emma Okeke, after dem kidnap dem on 27th of September around Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Trans Ekulu, Enugu.
Anya explain say the kidnappers try to escape to their stronghold in Imo State, but security agencies track dem down. “Thank God for the sophisticated security infrastructure wey Governor Mbah procure for the state and thanks to the brilliance and bravery of the police crack squad. The gang was overpowered and arrested,” he say.
During the rescue operation on 29th of September, members of the gang open fire on the rescue team, but dem were overpowered and neutralised. Three automatic rifles, other dangerous weapons, fetish objects, and hard drugs were recovered from dem.
Anya warn all criminals in the state to relocate or face the consequences. “The Governor Mbah Administration will not allow you to enjoy your proceeds of crimes in Enugu State. The government will not only hunt you down but also demolish the property involved in line with the provisions of relevant laws of the state,” he add.
Anya also urge landlords to be vigilant and perform due diligence when selecting tenants. “If they see something, they should say something immediately because the government will not entertain any excuses,” he state.
