Dangote Don Slash Petrol Price Again, Na Good News for We Nigerians!

City, State/Country – So, my people! E be like say we get beta news from Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Dem don cut the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), wey dem dey call petrol, by 4.5%. Na from N880 per litre, we don waka go N840 per litre. Who say no to savings? (Chai! I fit buy more jollof now!)

As dem talk am, this price reduction na strategy to fight rising fuel costs and to make market go alpha, you sabi? Anthony Chiejina, wey be the Chief Corporate Communications Officer for Dangote Group, announce this gist on Monday. Global oil prices don drop small, with Brent crude down 1.54% from June 23 to $67.61. No be small drama be this.

Chiejina come dey shine mouth say, “This strategic programme na part of our bigger plan to chop down logistics costs, make energy dey more efficient, support sustainability, and of course, boost Naija economy.” We dey watch you, Dangote, no fall our hand o!

Plus, this price cut dey come just before the refinery’s rollout of statewide distribution wey dem don plan for August 15. My padi, on that day, we go see Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tanker trucks dey carry petrol straight from the refinery go supply retailers, manufacturers, telecom operators, and airports. Talk about trying to ease una wahala for gas! (See as e dey sweet me for body.)

When dem launch this new plan, we go see more than 100 new CNG refuelling points across Naija. E go help reduce those logistics wahala wey dey cause fuel scarcity, and fuel go dey available for everybody.

No be joke, Dangote don dey cut prices before; this na like the fourth time dem don slash price lately. Meanwhile, just a few days before this announcement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) don increase price for some of their Lagos outlets to ₦925 per litre. Na sharp contrast! (Nawa o! Na who dey follow who again?)

One big man wey dey among the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Segun Ajayi-Kadiri, don talk say e dey expect petrol price go still drop to as low as N800. E shock you? The rate of petrol drop dey give hope for better days ahead. Ajayi-Kadiri no dey hide wetin him think! He say, “Joy is coming!” And no be lie, because last year, dem spend over N1.1 trillion just to find alternatives for fuel.

But no forget, even as everybody dey dance for this new price, some marketers still dey hold their pump prices because dem don buy their petrol at costly rates. Omo, how person go just lose money like that? E no easy! The president of Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, don talk say na until dem exhaust old stock before we go see real change for filling stations. Na serious matter be this.

So, my people, make we no just dey relax dey wait for drop, make we dey shine our eyes well-well as prices dey juggle up and down like Nigeria mens’ national team for match. E fit hard for some, but with Dangote pushing for beta prices, we fit just dey see light at the end of the tunnel. No forget, if petrol dey come down, all our other expenses go follow suit. Naija, we dey try! (But no let all dis jollification distract us o!)
