E don happen for Mexico side. Stellantis, the big motor company wey get Jeep and Chrysler, don stop work for their Toluca Assembly Plant since March 14. The wahala na from one supplier wey dey give them suspension parts for Jeep Cherokee, Compass, and Wagoneer S. The supplier, ZF Foxconn Chassis Modules, say Stellantis dey owe them money. So dem stop to send the parts.
According to reports wey come from Wall Street Journal, the supplier demand say make Stellantis pay them more than $70 million as lump sum. But Stellantis talk say dem don already pay more than $26 million. So the two sides no gree. The supplier just cut off the parts supply. Just like that, production for Toluca stop.
But the matter no end there. The same supplier threaten say dem go stop to send parts to Stellantis’ Windsor Assembly Plant for Ontario, Canada. That Windsor plant na where dem dey build Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Charger. If that one happen, e for mean say two major plants for North America go shut down.
For Windsor side, dem manage escape the shutdown. How? One judge for Michigan issue temporary restraining order. The order tell the supplier say make dem continue to send parts to Windsor. That one save the plant from stopping work. But e show say the matter serious. Stellantis talk say dem get only few hours worth of the suspension modules for their plants at any time. Na modern “just-in-time” assembly style. So if supply cut, plant go stop quick quick.
The Toluca shutdown don last more than two weeks now. Windsor dey work, but na because of court order, not because the money wahala don settle. Stellantis talk say if court for Mexico give order, production for Toluca fit resume within days. But hearing dey schedule for April 6. That day, both sides go argue about the payment claims and supply obligations for court.
Meanwhile, for sales side, FCA US LLC (part of Stellantis) just release their first-quarter sales report for 2026. The report talk say total sales increase 4% compared to same period for 2025. Dem sell 305,902 vehicles for the quarter. Jeep total sales up 3%. Ram sales increase 20%. Dodge sales up 4%.
One interesting part na Chrysler Pacifica sales. For March alone, Pacifica total sales increase nearly 84% month over month. Na second consecutive month of growth. Jeff Kommor, head of U.S. retail sales for the company, talk say the results show say dem dey build strong momentum. He mention say industry forecast dey down about 6%, but their market share dey improve.
The company talk say dem go present their strategic plan for 2026 at Investor Day on May 21 for Auburn Hills, Michigan. Dem also talk about some new vehicles wey don enter dealer showrooms, including all-new Jeep Cherokee, refreshed Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and new Dodge Charger SIXPACK.
For other news from the motor world, the 2026 New York auto show just hold. Many new cars and concepts show face. But for Stellantis matter, the focus dey on how supplier dispute fit affect production across borders. The Toluca and Windsor plants show how connected modern motor manufacturing be. Wahala for one supplier fit shake many plants.
As the April 6 hearing dey approach, many eyes dey on the court decision. Workers for Toluca dey wait to see if dem go resume work. Management dey look for solution wey no go affect their just-in-time system too much. And customers wey dey wait for new Jeep Cherokee or Chrysler Pacifica dey hope say the matter go settle on time.
