Cristiano Ronaldo don dey make waves again for Saudi Pro League, as him score crucial penalty to give Al Nassr 2-1 win over Al Shabab in the Riyadh derby. After a frustrating week where Portugal draw 0-0 with Scotland in the UEFA Nations League, Ronaldo return to domestic action with a bang.
The match start with Al Nassr leading through an excellent goal from Aymeric Laporte in the second half. But things take a dramatic turn when Ali Alhassan score an own goal in the 90th minute, making it look like Al Nassr might lose ground to Al Hilal at the top of the table.
However, Al Nassr substitute Abdulrahman Ghareeb get brought down by Brazilian defender Robert Renan, and the referee point to the spot. Ronaldo, despite some delay as opposition players try to scuff up the penalty spot, remain calm and score a nerveless strike into the bottom right corner, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The drama no end there, as Mohamed Simakan of Al Shabab get sent off after a VAR review show him bring down Nader Al-Sharari at an Al Shabab corner. Former Al Nassr hero Abderrazak Hamdallah step up to take the penalty but chip it against the post, securing the win for Al Nassr.
With this win, Al Nassr remain four points behind Al Hilal at the summit of the Saudi Pro League. Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad could move into second place if they beat Al Qadisiyah on Saturday.
