The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) don confirm say dem dey investigate allegations wey surround Bobrisky, the popular cross-dresser wey dem convict for mutilating naira. Bobrisky, wey real name be Idris Okuneye, get six months jail sentence for April.
Deputy Controller of Corrections Service Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Umar, talk to News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday for Abuja. He say the service dey committed to rehabilitation and safety through their comprehensive inmate admission process.
Umar explain say inmates go through thorough assessments to determine security risks, needs, and responsivity issues when dem bring dem to custodial centres. “Determination of security refers to one’s risk assessment. The person risks self harm, safety of other inmate and officers. We also have what we call needs assessment, which is focused on criminogenic need areas,” he say.
Recently, social media influencer and human rights activist, Very Dark Man (Vincent Otse), release audio recording wey allegedly show Bobrisky saying he spend his jail term in private apartment and pay N15 million to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials to drop money laundering charges against him.
The Federal Government, on September 30, inaugurate independent investigative panel to probe allegations of corruption and gross violations of standard operating procedures within NCoS. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, say the panel must also look into allegations that some correctional service personnel provide alternative accommodation for Bobrisky.
Umar say until the outcome of the investigation, dem no fit speak further on whether Bobrisky dey kept inside or outside the custodial facility.
