Benue Gov Suspend Attorney General Over EFCC Legality Suit

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State don suspend the state’s Attorney General, Barr. Iorwuese Mnyim, over a lawsuit challenging the legality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspension happen because Mnyim join the suit against EFCC without informing the governor, which dey seen as an ultra vires action – meaning he act beyond his powers.

This development come as the Supreme Court reserve judgement on the same lawsuit brought by some states questioning the legality of EFCC.

The governor take this decision to maintain order and ensure that all legal actions taken by the state dey in line with proper procedures and approvals.
