The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Mary Alile Idele, has called on the newly appointed Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, to make combating gender-based violence a top priority.
In a statement released on Thursday, Idele urged the minister to implement policies that specifically target gender-based violence and provide support to vulnerable women across Nigeria. “I urge you to work towards implementing policies that combat gender-based violence and support vulnerable women in the country,” she said.
Idele praised Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s appointment, describing it as a victory for women in Nigeria and a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. She highlighted Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s extensive experience and dedication to women’s issues, making her the ideal candidate for the role.
Idele also emphasized the need for stakeholders and Nigerian women to support the new minister in her efforts to promote women’s inclusion and fulfill her mandate. She called for visionary leadership to address the numerous challenges faced by women and girls in Nigeria.
The APC leader urged Sulaiman-Ibrahim to use her position to champion initiatives that would provide women with greater access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. She encouraged all stakeholders to back the new minister in her endeavors to uplift women and ensure their voices are heard in the corridors of power.
