Popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been in the news after he was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Seme border on Sunday night, October 20. According to reports, Bobrisky was trying to flee to Benin Republic when he was intercepted by immigration officers.
After his arrest, Bobrisky was initially taken to the Nigeria Immigration Service office for questioning. Later, he was transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State, where he spent the night in custody.
At the FCID, Bobrisky was detained in the female cell. The spokesperson for the FCID, Lagos, Mayegun Aminat, confirmed that Bobrisky is being held at the FCID Alagbon and that they were in the process of obtaining a remand to keep him in custody.
Details from witnesses indicate that Bobrisky’s attempt to cross the border was foiled when immigration officials recognized him at the surveillance unit. He was then taken to the controller’s office for further questioning before being moved to the Lagos State Command of NIS and eventually to FCID.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Kenneth Udo, stated that Bobrisky was arrested because he is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.
