PDP governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have gathered in Abuja for an emergency meeting to address the ongoing crisis within the party.
The meeting, held at the Bauchi state governor’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, saw the attendance of several key figures, including Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau.
The Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led Reconciliation Committee, tasked with resolving the factionalization within the NWC, announced that it has successfully resolved the differences among the NWC members. Oyinlola stated that the committee’s mission was completed after a three-hour meeting, allowing the party to move forward unitedly.
Oyinlola emphasized that the committee’s findings and recommendations would be presented to the PDP Governors’ Forum during their meeting. He declined to detail the specific issues resolved but confirmed that the NWC is now united and ready to focus on the party’s progress.
The meeting also comes amid discussions about a potentially contentious National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, although Oyinlola avoided commenting on this, stating it was not part of his committee’s mandate.
Only five of the party’s 13 governors were present at the meeting as of the last report, indicating that not all governors have yet joined the discussions.
