Afenifere, di pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, don celebrate di Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, as he mark im 50th birthday. Di celebration happen when chieftains of Afenifere, led by Femi Okunrounmu, visit di palace of Ooni at Ile-Ife in Osun State.
Reuben Fasoranti, di National Leader of Afenifere, commend di federal government for di renewed effort to complete di rehabilitation of di Lagos-Ibadan expressway. However, he urge di government to give urgent attention to other major roads in di South-West region.
Fasoranti mention roads like Ife-Akure, Akure-Owo, Ado-Ekiti-Ilesa, Ibadan-Ogbomoso-Ilorin, and Ibadan-Abeokuta among others that need immediate attention. He describe di Ooni as di “physical and visible symbol of di progenitor of Yoruba people” and highlight di importance of di House of Oduduwa to di aspirations and wellbeing of Yoruba people.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi express profound appreciation to di Afenifere delegation and say he feel highly honoured by their visit. He thank di Almighty God and express im renewed determination to serve Yorubaland more at 50.
Di Ooni also urge Afenifere leaders not to leave President Bola Tinubu alone, advising dem to continue giving him necessary advice and support. Other notable figures in di delegation include former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, Iyiola Omisore, Ayo Ladigbolu, General Olu Bajowa (retd), and several traditional rulers.
