One man, Deele Akpobari, alias ‘Bob Satan,’ don dey in trouble after court remand am for attempted murder of Gani Topba, leader of Conscience of Ogoni People. The incident happen on March 12, 2024, when Topba dey return from his community, Zaakpo in Khana Local Government Area, and dem ambush am, shoot am multiple times.
Topba spend months for hospital because of the injuries he sustain. After thorough investigation by detectives from Anti-Cultism unit of Rivers State police command, dem arrest Akpobari who be notorious suspect with ties to cultism and violent crimes.
During the court proceeding, Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Mustapha, file motion to detain the suspect pending further investigation and prosecution. However, Chief Magistrate Rosemary Ibanibo decline jurisdiction over the matter because of the gravity of the offenses alleged.
The court direct that the case file be transmitted to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and guidance. The matter adjourn until November 12, 2024, to allow for proper arraignment and trial. Akpobari go face charges including attempted murder, cultism, and possession of illegal firearms.
