Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, don talk say him want striker Kylian Mbappe to focus on scoring goals instead of pressing to help the team. This statement come out on Monday as Madrid prepare to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Ancelotti say, “I prefer that [Mbappe]… scores goals rather than he presses.” Him explain say the central striker position in their team no change, and him ask Mbappe the same thing him ask former striker Karim Benzema. “To be well positioned and to be ready every time we get the ball back to make a rapid transition,” Ancelotti add.
Mbappe don score eight goals for Madrid in 12 games across all competitions this season, but this record no match Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski‘s 14 goals in 12 appearances. Mbappe also face criticism in France for not playing in their recent Nations League games after him recover from thigh injury.
Since Mbappe join Madrid, Jude Bellingham, the former Dortmund midfielder, don take more defensive role. Bellingham no score any goal for the club this season in nine games, unlike last season when him score 10 goals in his first 10 appearances. Ancelotti praise Bellingham’s workrate, saying, “We’re satisfied with his work … because he works a lot on the pitch, he’s always there, he competes, fights, sacrifices himself.”
Ancelotti also talk about how Madrid’s attacking stars, including Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, make the team enjoy end-to-end matches. “I want [open games] because I have players with these characteristics,” him say. “We find it harder to play a game based on possession and control because we don’t have players with characteristics to play in reduced spaces.”
