Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday, advise religious leaders to focus on praying and counselling governments instead of cursing or insulting them. She make this call at the opening ceremony of a four-day International Conference of the African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) in Abuja.
Tinubu, who was represented by Princess Gloria Akobundu, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of New Partnership for Africa’s Development, urge religious leaders to preach peace and follow the footsteps of Christ by praying fervently for leaders in power. She say, “Let us not curse, insult and castigate the government. Rather, speak the truth to the leaders and conscience of our citizens.”
The First Lady also emphasize that Africa is at a crossroads, facing numerous challenges that require effective leadership. She advocate for a value-based leadership model that reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ, built on justice, integrity, wisdom, and social harmony.
President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Daniel Okoh, also speak at the event, highlighting the need for effective leadership. Okoh stress that leadership is not just a position of authority but a calling to serve with integrity and purpose. He pray for God to continue raising conscientious and compassionate leaders for African countries.
Okoh add that in these challenging times, the need for leaders who embody biblical values has never been more critical. He mention challenges such as economic uncertainties, insecurity, social injustices, and conflicts that threaten unity and progress, and urge leaders to commit themselves to principles centered on what is noble and pure.
