Enugu State Ministry of Health don confirm say cholera outbreak dey the state, and so far, 10 people don die from the disease. The Commissioner for Health, Emmanuel Obi, make this announcement in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, the ministry get alert on patients wey dey show symptoms like severe diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting. Dem advise people to enhance Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures in their facilities and report cases promptly.
The state ministry of health say dem initiate containment strategies in line with guidelines from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Obi emphasize the importance of preventive actions, including proper hand-washing, using clean water, and practicing safe food handling. Residents were urged to immediately report any cases of sudden diarrhea to the nearest healthcare facility.
The outbreak come as part of the broader cholera crisis wey dey affect many states in the country. The ministry stress say cholera spread through contaminated food or water and can cause acute watery diarrhea, which if left untreated, can lead to death within hours.
