Policemen for Ondo State don warn citizens to beware of fake news as the state dey prepare for the upcoming governorship election. This warning come after several reports of misleading information and false claims circulating on social media and other platforms.
According to reports, the police authorities dey urge the public to verify any information before sharing it, to avoid spreading false news that could cause tension and disrupt the electoral process. They also remind people that spreading fake news can have serious consequences on the criminal justice system and the rule of law.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other party leaders have been rallying support for their candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the election. However, the police are keen on ensuring that the election is conducted peacefully and without any form of misinformation that could mar the process.
In addition, the police have advised the public to report any suspicious activities or false information to the appropriate authorities. This measure is part of their efforts to maintain order and ensure a free and fair election in Ondo State.
