<p_ON Sunday evening, October 20, Russian forces launched a missile attack on the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, resulting in injuries to at least 12 civilians. The attack, which occurred around 10 p.m. local time, targeted three districts in Kharkiv, including the Kyivskyi and Osnovyansky districts.
The wounded include seven women aged 22 to 83 and five men aged 21 to 38, according to regional authorities. The victims suffered from head injuries, fractures, and acute stress reactions.
The Russian strikes damaged various structures, including apartment buildings, houses, garages, gas stations, and cars. Power lines were also affected, leading to power outages in some areas of the city. Emergency workers and rescuers were quickly dispatched to the attack sites to assist the wounded and extinguish small fires that broke out.
Psychologists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were on the scene to provide support to those affected by the attack. The use of high-explosive guided bombs hybridized with air-to-surface cruise missiles, specifically the Grom-E1, was reported in this incident.
This attack is part of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, which has intensified in recent months, particularly targeting densely-populated areas. Ukrainian officials have warned of potential future strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as winter approaches, a tactic Moscow has used previously to exacerbate civilian hardships.
