Dangote Refinery Don Reduce Aviation Fuel Import by 8,000bpd

Dangote Petroleum Refinery don make big impact for Nigeria and West Africa as dem reduce importation of aviation fuel by 8,000 barrels per day. According to report from Energy Intelligence, from 13,000 barrels per day in 2023, Nigeria now import only 5,000 barrels per day in 2024.

Since Dangote refinery start production less than six months ago, dem dey supply most of the domestic jet fuel. Now, Dangote jet fuel make up at least two-thirds of Nigeria’s jet fuel supply and almost half of the fuel used across West Africa, Energy Intelligence calculate.

The report also show say jet fuel imports into West Africa from outside de region don drop from 34,500 b/d in 2023 to just 17,900 b/d so far this year. Dangote jet fuel dey go to countries like Benin, Senegal, Togo, The Gambia, and Gabon.

Dangote refinery also dey export jet fuel overseas. Since March, dem don ship 1.1 million tonnes (35,000 b/d) of jet fuel, with almost 290,000 tonnes go to Europe and 315,000 tonnes go to South America.

Asharami Synergy’s Managing Director, Foluso Sobanjo, talk say Dangote jet fuel price dey slightly lower or same as import price. He say prices don fall as production increase, and Dangote refinery now dey operate at more than 300,000 b/d.
