The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has announced that the modernisation of Nigeria’s border security infrastructure is underway. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance border management systems and adopt advanced technologies to safeguard the nation’s frontiers.
During a recent tour of immigration commands in Lagos, Ogun, and other South-West states, Nandap updated officers on new immigration initiatives. She emphasized the importance of these advancements in the ongoing drive to modernize Nigeria’s border security infrastructure. The CG also reiterated her commitment to officers’ welfare and capacity building, urging them to maintain a high level of professionalism in their duties.
The tour included visits to key border posts such as Seme Border and Idiroko. Nandap held a joint security meeting with sister agencies to enhance collaboration in intelligence gathering and sharing. She stressed the vital role of border communities in supporting border security efforts.
Nandap met with several key stakeholders during the tour, including the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu; the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Gbadebo III; the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, HRM Prof. Saka Matemilola; and the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
