Naija dey Supply Togo, Benin 24-Hour Light – TCN

Nigeria dey supply Togo and Benin with 24-hour electricity, according to Sule Abdulaziz, the Managing Director and CEO of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). Abdulaziz talk dis during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Tonight program on Sunday.

“We dey supply Togo, Benin, and Niger. Dem get power from Nigeria on a 24-hour basis, and dem dey pay for am,” Abdulaziz explain. He also mention say many Nigerians no dey enjoy uninterrupted power supply, but some areas get better supply than others.

Abdulaziz say Band A customers dey get 20-22 hours of power supply, Band B customers get 16-20 hours, and Band C customers receive 12-16 hours of power each day. He express optimism say Nigeria fit achieve consistent electricity supply across the country in less than five years.

He clarify say system collapses no necessarily come from TCN, but fit come from generation, transmission, or distribution sectors. Abdulaziz also explain the difference between TCN and the old National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), saying TCN only handle transmission now, not generation, distribution, or marketing like NEPA used to do.

The TCN boss highlight infrastructure challenges, noting say most of the equipment dem use over 50 years old. On electricity costs, Abdulaziz argue say electricity in Nigeria relatively affordable compared to other African countries like Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Niger.
