Women lawyers for Nigeria don dey seek the involvement of clergymen to help combat the increasing cases of gender-based violence (GBV) in the society. According to reports, the women lawyers dey lament the ugly trend of GBV and believe say all stakeholders, including clergymen, must join hands to fight against this menace.
The call for clergy involvement come as a result of the critical role clergymen play in shaping societal values and influencing community behaviors. Women lawyers believe that clergymen can use their platforms to raise awareness about GBV, condemn such acts, and promote a culture of respect and equality between men and women.
Abba, one of the women lawyers, emphasized that the increasing cases of GBV require increased efforts from all stakeholders. She noted that clergymen, with their significant influence, can play a pivotal role in changing attitudes and behaviors that contribute to GBV.
The involvement of clergymen is seen as a strategic move to reach a wider audience and to bring about a more holistic approach to combating GBV. By working together, women lawyers and clergymen hope to create a society where women and girls are protected from violence and can live without fear of abuse.
