Nigeria dey face another dark weekend as deir national grid collapse again, dis time for de third time in just one week. De latest grid disturbance happen around 8:16 am on Saturday when power generation drop to 0 megawatts (MW), leaving businesses, homes, and critical infrastructures in total darkness.
According to data from de Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), all 22 generation companies (GenCos) are down as of now. De power generation was standing at 3,042 MW at 8 am and peaked at 3,968 MW at 7 am, but it dropped to 47 MW by 9 am, with no allocation to power distribution companies (DisCos) at de time of filing dis report.

De Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which manages de national grid, has yet to comment on de cause of de latest collapse. However, de Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, attributed de frequent grid collapses to outdated infrastructure, saying it is inevitable given de current state of de power infrastructure.
De repeated power failures have intensified frustrations across de country, with businesses and households suffering over de nation’s unreliable electricity supply. Efforts are underway to restore electricity, but de frequent collapses have heightened frustration among citizens and businesses already grappling with unreliable power supply.
