Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, don dey call on Federal Government and Ministry of Works to quickly repair the 65-kilometre Oyo-Ogbomosho highway. According to dem, the road dey in very bad condition and if dem no fix am, e go cause big problem for road users and communities around.
The president of NARTO, Yusuf Othman, write letter to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Friday, to draw government attention to the bad state of the road. He say the road don dey cause traffic to stop completely for several days.
Othman emphasize say the Oyo-Ogbomosho Highway very important for Nigeria’s economic and social development because e dey connect the northern and southern parts of the country. He say the bad condition of the road already cause severe gridlock, extended travel delays, economic losses, and big safety risks.
He also remind government of the danger of inflammable products wey dey stranded on the road and how disastrous their explosion could be. He mention the recent explosion in Jigawa State where over 90 lives were lost as an example of what could happen if dem no fix the road.
Othman plead with the government to prioritize the rehabilitation of the highway and take immediate temporary measures to address the current bottlenecks while more comprehensive repair work dey ongoing. He express confidence in the leadership and commitment of the ministry to improve Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
