Rotary Club Share Reusable Pads to Girls for Abuja

On Friday, October 18, 2024, Rotary Club of Abuja carried out a significant community service project by distributing reusable sanitary pads to girls in several schools across the capital city. This initiative aims to address the issue of menstrual hygiene and ensure that young girls do not miss school due to lack of access to sanitary products.

The event, which was well-attended by members of the Rotary Club, school administrators, and the beneficiaries themselves, highlighted the importance of menstrual health and education. The reusable pads, which are designed to be eco-friendly and cost-effective, were handed out along with educational materials on how to use and maintain them.

According to the President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, this project is part of their broader commitment to improving health and education outcomes for young girls. “We believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to attend school without the fear of stigma or discomfort associated with menstruation,” she said.

The students who received the pads expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the support. One of the beneficiaries noted that the reusable pads will help her stay in school during her menstrual period, which previously was a challenge.

The Rotary Club also announced plans to expand this initiative to other parts of the country, emphasizing their dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of young girls and promoting sustainable menstrual health practices.
