Federal Government don approve N12.911 billion for four key health agencies in Nigeria. The approval happen during the eighth meeting of the Ministerial Oversight Committee of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in Abuja on Friday.
The agencies wey go benefit from this fund include the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS).
The committee say the fund dey for the fourth quarter of 2024 and it follow the current BHCPF guidelines. The MOC of the BHCPF dey ensure say the fund dey implemented well, transparently, and with accountability.
According to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, the Federal Government dey make progress in improving the governance of the health sector and the health outcomes of the population. Pate also mention say 2.4 million vulnerable Nigerians don be enrolled in the Vulnerable Groups Fund within one year.
Pate add say integrated healthcare workers’ training dey ongoing, and they have already trained 40,000 out of 120,000 permanent health workers as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative. He acknowledge say some states like Anambra dey do well, while others dey struggle, but dem dey work together to make healthcare services available to everyone.
