There be indications say the Abdullahi Ganduje-led leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) fit postpone the inaugural meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) till 2025. This decision dey come because President Bola Tinubu, who suppose be present, no dey available.
Sources from the APC Secretariat talk say the reason for the postponement be because Mr President no dey back in the country. This same reason make them cancel the initial dates dem choose for the NEC meeting in September.
“As we dey talk, Mr President no dey back in the country. This be why we had to annul the initial September dates we choose for the NEC meeting. But whichever way, the chances of holding a NEC meeting this year no dey feasible again. It be just two months until the end of the year. Again, we can’t fix it around the festive period in December. Perhaps in 2025, but 2024 be gone for sure,” one source talk.
The concerns come barely two months after the ruling APC announce indefinite postponement of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee earlier scheduled for September 11 and 12 respectively. Although no reason be given for the suspension of the meetings, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, state say a new date would be announced later.
When contacted for reaction, the National Deputy Organising Secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi Duru, tell our correspondent say no new date be fixed. “No new date has been fixed. For us, we are not aware of any new date. As of now, the postponement still stands,” he say.
