Nigeria don celebrate as Wahid Enitan Oshodi emerge as the new President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF). Oshodi, wey be former Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development for Lagos State, win the election unanimously at the 2024 ATTF Annual General Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulate Oshodi, say his election be proud moment for Nigeria. Tinubu talk say Oshodi’s election show say African table tennis stakeholders trust am to take the sport to greater heights on the continent. Oshodi na the second Nigerian to lead ATTF, after Engr. Segun George, and the only Nigerian currently heading a continental sports federation.
Oshodi’s journey in sports administration start long time ago. He serve as Chairman of the Lagos State Table Tennis Association before him become commissioner in 2011 under Governor Babatunde Fashola. Under him, Lagos become a global hub for table tennis, hosting big events like the ‘Eko 2012’ National Sports Festival and the International Sports Classics series.
As ATTF President, Oshodi go use him experience and connections to develop table tennis across Africa. Him also dey serve as Deputy President of ATTF and Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), positions wey don solidify him influence in African and global sports administration.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other top officials also praise Oshodi for his commitment to table tennis. Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, talk say Oshodi’s passion for table tennis don make lasting impact on the sport, not just in Lagos but across Africa.
