Egypt captain Mohamed Salah no go play for Egypt against Mauritania in their next Africa Cup of Nations qualifier because of injury concerns. This decision dey come after Salah score one goal in Egypt’s 2-0 win over Mauritania on Friday.
Liverpool, Salah’s club, confirm on Saturday that he has been released early from international duty. Egypt manager Hossam Hassan talk say there be concerns about playing on Mauritania’s artificial turf and the tough style of play of the Mauritanian team.
Hassan say, “If any player ask me not to play on artificial turf, I will agree. The Mauritanian team play hard and with violent interventions, and their field is not the best.” This fear of injury make Hassan decide to rest Salah for the next match.
Egypt already dey top their Group C with three wins from three matches, and they need just one point to qualify. So, resting Salah no go affect their chances much.
In another development, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk also dey return to Liverpool early after he receive red card in Netherlands‘ match against Hungary. This early return go help both players prepare well for Liverpool’s next match against Chelsea.
