Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) don dey clash with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led state government over the use of Democracy Park in Akure for their campaign flag-off.
The PDP say dem apply to use the Democracy Park, which be the usual place for such events, but Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa administration no gree dem. According to dem, dis be the first time any administration go deny dem use of public space for campaign. Dem describe the action as “petty and pedestrian”.
The PDP, through their Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ayo Fadaka, say dem go still hold their campaign flag-off in Akure, even though dem no disclose the new venue. Dem apologize for any inconvenience and blame the “irresponsibility of the pedestrian government”.
In response, the state Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, say the allegation by PDP be false and mischievous. Otaloro claim say Governor Aiyedatiwa no get direct dealings with the management of Democracy Park and cannot unilaterally deny anyone access. He advise PDP to focus on issue-based campaigning instead of spreading falsehoods.
Otaloro also emphasize say the use of public facilities like Democracy Park dey guided by established rules and regulations, and if PDP fulfill all requirements, there be no basis for denial.
