Dr. Doyin Okupe, former Director General of Peter Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, don defend President Bola Tinubu‘s two-week work leave in the United Kingdom. Okupe say those wey dey criticize President Tinubu for the trip no understand the reason behind am.
Okupe talk to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos, where he explain say President Tinubu travel to UK to avoid undue interference from political associates as he dey plan to reshuffle his cabinet. He say, “I’ve come across many misguided critiques of the President’s holiday trip…. From my perspective, and based on how leaders typically behave during periods of national challenges, I believe the President intentionally chose to distance himself from officials, friends, and political associates to reflect on the past 17 months of his administration and strategize for the future.”
Okupe emphasize say staying in Nigeria no go give President Tinubu the peaceful and serene atmosphere he need to achieve his objectives. He add say, “Being in Nigeria wouldn’t provide him with the tranquil and reflective environment he needs to achieve these objectives.”
President Tinubu leave Abuja on October 2 for the UK, and according to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the trip na for both working vacation and retreat to assess his administration’s economic reforms.
