Troops of Operation Hadin Kai don intercept one suspected foreign terrorist drug courier for Borno State, wey dey carry large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages, and other prohibited substances.
According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the acting Military Information Officer of the operation, the arrest na another significant operational success for their campaign to degrade the logistical networks wey dey support terrorist activities for North-East.
Goni say the substances believed to be destined for terrorist elements wey dey operate inside Lake Chad Islands.
The interception happen on Thursday, during intensive search operation along Maiduguri–Monguno axis, where troops intercept one suspicious vehicle wey dey travel towards Kwatan Doron Baga for Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect identified as Mrs Rachael Samuel, 48 years old, a Chadian national from Kelo for Chari-Baguirmi Province, Republic of Chad. She dey arrested while conveying the prohibited items.
Preliminary findings show say the recovered substances dey moved to locations inside Lake Chad Islands, an area known to harbour terrorist elements.
Items recovered from the suspect include seven compressed bundles of suspected Cannabis sativa wey weigh about 30 kilogrammes, two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride wey dem popularly call “Suck and Die”, and one carton wey contain 48 bottles of dry gin and 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages.
The market street value of the items, according to Goni, runs into millions of naira.
Other items recovered include one mobile phone, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, personal effects, and cash.
The suspect dey currently for military custody, while all recovered exhibits don dey secured pending handover to appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution according to law.
Goni say the interception highlight Operation Hadin Kai determination to deny terrorists access to logistics and supplies wey dey sustain their criminal activities.
