Borno State Police Command don kukuma kukuma kukuma kukuma kukuma kukuma impound 78 vehicles wey no get number plates for Maiduguri and Jere council.
The command say dem don intensify enforcement against vehicles wey dey operate without registration number plates, including those wey get concealed, altered, defaced, or obscured plates.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, talk say di exercise dey in line with Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu directive to sanitise vehicle registration and ownership across di country.
Daso say since di exercise start on 10th June 2026, dem don impound 78 vehicles wey violate di law. Di owners and operators don already face charges for competent courts according to extant laws.
Commissioner of Police for Borno State Command, Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, state say di enforcement na proactive crime prevention strategy wey aim to improve public safety, enhance intelligence gathering, and deny criminal elements chance to use unregistered vehicles for crime.
Di Commissioner also reiterate say di exercise no be to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to ensure strict compliance with existing traffic and security regulations. He urge all vehicle owners to regularise registration and make sure approved number plates dey properly displayed at all times.
Di Command assure public say enforcement go continue professionally, fairly, and with due respect for citizens rights. Motorists dey advised to comply with law to avoid sanctions.
