Gbajabiamila speak for Abuja during Good Governance Summit, 2026 wey Working People United (WoPU) organise with theme: “Policies and Governance: Impact on the Working People”. He yarn say government don identify say current N70,000 minimum wage no longer sustainable amid present realities wey Nigerians dey face.
He say N70,000 wage wey be milestone for 2024, must be honestly reassess against today’s realities. “This administration go approach that endeavor not as adversary of labour, but as partner,” Gbajabiamila tok.
He add say present administration don deliver new national minimum wage. For July 2024, President Bola Tinubu sign into law minimum wage of N70,000, more than double the N30,000 wey workers suffer for years. Recognising say cost of living no stand still, President reduce strategic review cycle from five years to three years, so wages fit keep closer pace with economic reality.
Gbajabiamila confess say present administration no get easy three years of governance.
For im goodwill message, Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammad Dingyadi, say governance no just about written policies but dem must properly implement to get impact on workers. “Governance no be merely about policies written for documents or programmes announce from government offices.
