Army rescue mother and pikin from Kogi kidnappers, three still dey find

Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under the 2 Division Nigerian Army, don rescue two kidnap victims after dem quickly respond to a kidnapping incident for Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the rescue operation happen on Thursday. The incident occur late for June 3, 2026, when armed terrorists storm one residence near Solid Rock School for the Ijalu area of Egbe and abduct five members of a family. The victims include one woman, her six-month-old pikin, and three other relatives.

After the army receive distress report, dem quickly mobilise and join hands with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to pursue the abductors along the route wey dem take.

The statement reveal say the sustained pressure from the troops and vigilante operatives force the terrorists to abandon one of the victims, Mrs. Adekemi Idowu, and her six-month-old child near the Oro axis before dem run go hide for the surrounding area.

The rescued mother and pikin come out without any injury and dem don safely reunite with their family. Lieutenant Abdullahi explain say troops dey continue aggressive search and rescue operations for the area to secure the release of the remaining three victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He reaffirm the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and urge members of the public to provide timely and credible information wey fit assist ongoing security operations.

“The Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting lives and property and encourages residents to continue supporting security agencies with actionable intelligence to enhance efforts against criminal elements,” the statement tok.

Security operations dey continue for the area as efforts intensify to locate the remaining abducted victims and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
