Meta celebrate one year of Edits app, promise more features

Meta don celebrate one year since dem launch Edits app, wey be video editing tool wey dem build with creators for mind. Di company hold webinar on April 20 to mark di anniversary and yarn about wetin dey come next for di app.

Since launch, Edits don focus on removing wahala wey creators dey face. For example, creators tell Meta say e hard to read script from notes while filming, so dem add in-app teleprompter. Now, whether you dey record yourself or voiceover, you fit speak to your audience with confidence, and adjust text size and speed as you go.

Meta say dem go continue to improve core tools like captions, including bilingual captions, advanced color adjustments, speed curves, and more. Dem also dey work to make most tools inside di app customizable, so you fit start with wetin dey there and tune am to your liking.

Edits na all-in-one workspace wey support everything around video editing, from inspiration to feedback after you hit share. Instead of jumping from app to app to make one video, Edits bring everything you need into one place. Di Ideas tab allow you save reels and audio from Instagram, alongside sticky notes for your next big idea.

As you use Edits, di app go personalize based on wetin you post. E go give you inspiration feed, insights wey summarize your comments, and weekly ideas generated just for you. Meta say dem go add more ways to tailor Edits to how you work, like pinning your favorite tools, getting more insights about your followers, and starting every project with your personalized setup.

Meta believe say creativity grow through community, so dem don work with creators like Ethan Barber and Cole Bennett to bring their creative approaches into Edits for anyone to try. When you tap on an Edits template, you fit open di project file to see how dem make am, including whether e use trending audio, and then easily make am your own. Soon, you go fit make more complex templates with overlays, keyframes, and video effects.

Meta say di app go get more AI tools in future, as dem dey push for more customization. Edits already get some AI elements, like AI video effects powered by Meta’s Segment Anything model, wey enable advanced separation of objects inside video clip. However, Meta hint say dem fit eventually charge for some features, especially AI-powered ones, to cover rising costs of AI development.

Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri don preview an entire scene-changing AI feature for May 2025, wey no release yet for Edits but dey available for Meta AI app. Analysts expect say same functions go eventually come to Edits, possibly with a paid tier or subscription add-on. For now, Edits remain free to download and use.

Di app don become valuable tool for many creators, but di question remain: Has editing become di new creativity? Creators like The Kurta Guy, Motoroctane, and Steffy Sunny believe say editing no be just post-production again, but di production itself. Dem yarn say editing define di experience, and good editing fit elevate simple concept, while poor editing fit kill good idea.

Meta acknowledge say great videos still take time, even with better tools. Di company dey focus on making tools wey bring creativity to life, from first burst of inspiration to final result. Dem encourage creators to try Edits and share feedback on Instagram and Threads, as e directly shape wetin dem build next.
