The statement from Bolaji say, “In view of this development, Chief Adebayo Adelabu is expected to resign his position as Minister of Power in the coming days.” The timing of the resignation show say Adelabu wan make sure some important work for power sector finish well before e comot office.
Some of the work wey dey ongoing na to stabilise the power sector. Recent times, power generation don drop because of gas supply problems to power plants. Pipeline repairs dey happen, and money wey dem owe gas suppliers still dey. Adelabu want to handle these challenges before e go.
For the meeting with President Tinubu, Adelabu show im scorecard. E also present the National Integrated Electricity Policy (NIEP) and the Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) wey follow am. Another document wey e present na the Medium-Long Term Integrated Resource Plan for the power sector. All these documents na to guide the person wey go take over from am and make sure the sector dey sustainable.
President Tinubu commend the Minister for im dedication and the progress wey e record. After that, President Tinubu grant im consent and blessing for Adelabu to pursue im governorship ambition for Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general election.
