Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) don start new BVN rules from 1 May 2026, to stop fraud and protect people money.
New rules go change how Nigerians use bank accounts and keep dem safe. CBN announce 10 major changes wey go affect customers.
One rule say bank apps go only work on one phone at a time. If you start use new phone, the old one go get removed from your bank app.
Changing phone go require verification. CBN go monitor BVN wey dem suspect. Banks fit limit or freeze accounts linked to suspicious BVN.
Customers fit change BVN phone number only once from the day the law start. This go help stop fraud through SIM swap.
Only people wey be 18 years and above fit get BVN from May 2026. Children under 18 go bank under parent or guardian supervision.
Transfer limit for new device go be 20,000 Naira within 24 hours of opening, down from current 50,000 Naira.
CBN say these measures be part of bigger plan to make banking system more secure and reduce fraud from modern transactions.
As new rules go start soon, customers dey advised to take steps to avoid problems.
