Tinubu sign 2026 budget, extend 2025 budget deadline to June

President Bola Tinubu don finally sign di 2026 budget into law. Dis na according to di statement by di President tok tok pesin, Bayo Onanuga, wey e release on Friday 17 April, 2026.

Oga Tinubu also sign di bill wey extend di implementation period for di 2025 budget from March 31, 2026, to June 30, 2026. Dis dey come less dan one year to di 2027 general election, wey go mark di end of im term for office.

Rememba say President Tinubu bin present 2026 budget to a joint session of di National Assembly for December 2025. Di National Assembly pass di budget on March 31 afta Tinubu make upward review request.

Wit capital expenditure accounting for about 50 per cent, di 2026 budget show di administration commitment to economic stability, national security, infrastructure development, and inclusive growth. E say di budget allocation go drive productivity and improve di life of Nigerians.

On why di President extend di 2025 budget, e say na to ensure say di appropriated funds dey used well well for important infrastructure and development projects wey dey go on across di kontri. According to Onanuga statement, di 2026 Appropriation Act go come into force on April 1.
