Wahala don happen for Kwara State as armed bandits storm one church for Oke-Ode community inside Ifelodun Local Government Area. The incident happen around 11am on Sunday when church members dey hold their service. According to eyewitness account, the bandits enter the church premises with guns and start to shoot for air to scatter people.
Police authorities confirm say eight worshippers get kidnapped during the attack. The Kwara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, talk say three of the victims don rescue by security forces. She explain say police and local vigilantes pursue the bandits into the bush area where the rescue operation take place.
The bandits carry the remaining five worshippers go deeper into the bush. Security forces dey continue search and rescue operation to find the remaining victims. Community members dey live in fear as this kind attack never happen for the area before. Many residents talk say they no fit believe say such thing fit happen for their peaceful community.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, condemn the attack and promise say government go do everything possible to ensure the safe return of all victims. The governor talk through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, say security agencies dey work round the clock on the matter. He appeal to residents to provide useful information to security agencies.
Church leaders for the area don call for increased security presence around worship centers. Reverend Samuel Adeyemi, who dey lead one church for nearby community, talk say this attack show say nowhere safe again for Nigeria. He beg government to provide better protection for citizens especially during worship times.
Local vigilante groups don increase patrol for the area since the incident happen. The Oke-Ode community head, Chief Tunde Balogun, talk say traditional rulers dey work with security agencies to prevent future attacks. He appeal to residents to remain calm and report any suspicious movement to authorities.
This incident come follow similar attacks for other parts of Nigeria where bandits target worship centers. Security experts talk say bandits dey change their tactics to target soft spots where they fit easily kidnap people. They advise churches and mosques to improve their security arrangements.
