Naija athletes wey get experience plus new talent don come together to show dem selves for international level.

Solomon Aliyu, wey be head coach for Athletics Federation of Nigeria, dey shine ey on how training dey go. E gree say dem don start workout well and dem focus on wetin go help dem shine come game day. The training dey split into three phases, and as we dey talk now, na the second week of the first phase we dey. Dem don start from general fitness to more specific training for sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, and throwers. Morning sessions dey for endurance building, while evening na for perfecting their speed and technique.

This first phase go last six weeks, and e go help dem build strong foundation before dem go face competitive simulations and international competitions. Coaches don talk say the dedication from the athletes dey fresh, the early response dey sweet, and this one go help foster unity amongst dem. Plus, the weather for Asaba dey cool and the facilities dey top notch, so dem dey enjoy their training.

Management no slack at all, dem don ensure say nutrition, recovery plans, and mental training dey on point for the athletes. Even though some athletes still dey participate for Niger Delta Games, Aliyu don assure say everybody go gather when dem finish their own wahala. Morale dey high, no complaint dey from athletes over accommodation or feeding, dem appreciate the good vibes for camp.

For these upcoming Commonwealth Games, younger athletes see am as chance to show wetin dem fit do, while the experienced ones dey try surpass their past performances. Meanwhile, we don hear say Naija athletes don receive better boost from National Sports Commission (NSC) wey don drop over N200 million as training grants for twenty-six athletes. This na big deal! The grants dey cover many sports like athletics, wrestling, weightlifting, and para-sports. NSC create the Elite and Podium Board to ensure say our athletes go dey at the top when dem face international competitions.

The Director General of NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, sabi say President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don increase dem budget for sports because e believe in our athletes. E don show how dis grants go help our athletes clear ground in major competitions. “When we take care of our athletes, them go help carry glory for Nigeria,” Olopade yan, and e mean am well.
