For fifth time wey dis year don land, dem food and beverage workers, wey dey run under FOBTOB, don carry their wahala waka come Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. Them dey shout say make Federal Government no allow dem dey lose work wey don gree dem hustle.
As dem gather, you go fit see say e be like say dem wan burn house. Dem dey hold placards wey get serious messages like: “Tinubu no wan make people lose job”, “Make NAFDAC stop to dey spoil our business”, and “5.5 million jobs dey shake!” This wahala follow wetin happen as NAFDAC dey seal factories wey dem say dey break law. Labour leaders dey talk say this action don scatter plenty people wey dey do legit business.
Dem President of FOBTOB, Jimoh Oyibo, don come talk say if dem close dem approved manufacturers, na so illegal businesses go dey find ground. E talk say, “If you stop those wey dey follow rules from working, you go just open door for bad products wey fit harm everybody. Na wetin we dey talk be this o, e no be only job matter, na safety and government money matter too.”
Another oga wey dey talk for the protest, Comrade Jeffery Igein, don hammer say wetin NAFDAC dey do no make sense. E carry gist come say alcohol policy don already sign, so why dem no go allow factories operate? “This tin dey threaten our life and livelihood. Economy don hard, una suppose fit help we rather than make am worse!” Igein dey shout.
Labour leaders dey push for dialogue, dem no dey fight regulation but dey dey ask for better policy wey go balance health and work matter. E clear say similar protest dey happen for Abuja and Aba, meaning say people dey reach their breaking point. Some protesters dey claim say Federal Government don tell dem make dem no enforce the ban again, but NAFDAC Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, don come clear say she never see any paper wey talk that one.
