Na for Monday dis week, dem gather for Lagos wey NAFDAC office dey to show dem grievances.
As dem dey protest, e clear say no be small matter because dem talk say plenty people, wey no be less than five million Nigerians go suffer from dis wahala if di ban no reverse. E no good at all! Dem dey belong to Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Senior Staff Association and National Union of Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Employees, and dem carry placards wey dey catch attention as dem dey sing solidarity songs.
Dem leaders no just sit down one place, e be like say dem don engage di NAFDAC big babe, Mojisola Adeyeye, after last week protest. But wahala be say Adeyeye talk say di ban no go fit change until dem make new law wey go support am. Wetin we go do now na to sit down dey watch?
Di National President of FOBTOB, Oyibo Jimoh, talk say dem dey work on new national alcohol policy wey go sweet all sides, but for some reason, NAFDAC still dey seal factories wey dey produce dis sachet alcohol. E no make sense at all! Jimoh even talk say some claims wey Adeyeye talk no be correct and e be like say dem wan skew di matter.
Head of the Brewery and Tobacco Department for NUFBTE, Azeez Rasaq, no gree keep quiet. Him don talk say if dem no fit handle di matter well, den go call di central labour unions like TUC and NLC to help dem. E mean say, if government no gree listen, nationwide protest dey near, and e fit waka well well.
For dis protest matter, Declan Ihekaira wey dey represent di CSOs talk say di ban dey try block low-income earners from enjoying dem small drinks, and dat no dey fair at all! If dem oga dem no fit change dis policy, dem sure say protest go scatter everywhere.
One worker wey no wan lose him job, Biodun Adeyemi, don talk say he no gree keep quiet if dem push am to wall. E talk say make dem no deceive demself, dis ban go affect plenty families. If NAFDAC dey use children as reason for di ban, wetin happen to di adults wey go lose dem jobs? Na wah!
Di Chairman of FOBTOB for Lagos, Olamiye Somefun, don declare say dis wahala fit push dem to go National Assembly if di matter no clear soon. “We go carry our legs go Abuja come meet our lawmakers make dem hear wetin we dey talk. We no know wetin NAFDAC dey do, but e no go work like dat,” Somefun talk.
