According to Lawal Pedro, wey be Commissioner for Justice, dem don notice sey pipo dey gist anyhow say the Abuja court judgment fit stop VIO from doing their work for Lagos. But truth be say, dem clear sey Abuja matter no mean sey everywhere for Naija go follow that ruling. Na only FCT dem dey talk about, not Lagos wey get their own law wey support VIO work.
Dem continue to yarn say na because say VIO for FCT no get statutory power wey go allow dem stop motorist or collect fine. But Lagos own dey under Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law wey give dem power to dey inspect vehicles and ensure sey dem dey roadworthy. Na wetin dem fit do for Lagos matter no be like dry throat FCT matter.
Biko, make we remember sey VIO for Lagos fit inspect vehicles, dey issue Road Worthiness Certificate, and even impose fine when e need arise. Na so dem take dey run their contract for Lagos wey no dey play. As per Section 12(1) of their law, if dem catch you misbehaving for road, you fit collect fine straight from mobile court or pay within 48 hours.
