Wahala dey for Dutsinma-Karofi road as at least 18 people don lose their life for serious accident wey happen there. E no be small matter as two Golf commercial vehicles wey dey carry passengers collide head-on.
The accident bin happen for evening time, around 8 p.m. on January 31st. According to people wey dey there, one car dey come from Dutsinma while the other from Kano. Na so the two of dem jam, and to make matter worse, both vehicles catch fire after the collision.
Eyewitnesses recount say the scene no dey pretty at all, with some passengers dey suffer serious burns. E pain as we hear say some of the victims na relatives of groom wey suppose celebrate for wedding. Dem carry the bodies go General Hospital for Dutsinma, but na real tragedy wey dem find there.
Road safety no be play thing wey we go fit ignore again. According to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), road accidents dey happen plenty for Naija. Dem report say last year alone, wey be 2024, over 5,400 people die from road accidents, despite the fact say dem record 10% drop in the number of crashes.
Shehu Mohammed, wey be the FRSC corps marshal, don talk say speeding na the main wahala wey dey cause this kind of accidents as e don dey happen for every quarter since 2021. More than two-thirds of the crashes dey involve commercial vehicles, and nearly half of the crashes wey happen in 2024 na because of speed violations.
While this news dey pain heart, we still dey remind ourselves say life no get duplicate. Make everybody dey careful for road, especially for these commercial vehicles wey dey carry plenty people one time.
