Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) don launch beta programme wey dem call Operation Safeguard Your Roads. This one no be only about road matter, e get as e go empower our youth too. Dem dey waka for Katsina State from Chainage 31+500 to 50+200 on Katsina–Dutsinma–Kankara Road, wey dey Kurfi Local Government Area.
As dem flag this operation, our correct engineer wey sabi road matter, Bashir Isma, explain say dis programme no be small thing. E dey aim to clear road, help youth find work, and make everywhere safe as wetin dey follow the Federal Government Renewed Hope Agenda. Una sabi say dem go dey clear trees and shrubs wey dey obstruct road visibility. Na so dem go reduce accident risk and tackle crime wey dey happen for some corners.
Wetin bad pass be say rough road no be area wey make sense for any country. E go make sense if na drainage management go dey part of the plan! Thank God dem go dey desilt those clogged drains wey dey cause wahala whenever rain fall. Proper drainage go allow water flow, no flooding, and of course, e go make the road sharp as ever!
This programme go also help our youth wey dey look for work. About 50 youths don enter the scheme, dem go dey work for the roads and collect small stipends. So, this programme no be just road matter, e dey help plenty people too.
As e dey happen, the Corps Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps for Katsina, Maxwell Lede, don yarn say this initiative na correct timing. E talk say road safety and youth employment don dey critical for national security, and dem go make sure say dis pilot scheme no go just end after one year.
