Dem don secure N25 billion for vision matter wey go last for 10 years. Na serious commitment wey fit help reduce blindness wey no suppose dey for this country!

For Abuja, wey dem launch am, Dr. Rainer Brockhans, di CEO of CBM, yarn say this programme na continuation of di long relationship wey dem don get with Naija since 1968. Na 57 years wey dem don dey help various government agencies take improve health system wey fit accommodate pipo wey get disability. Dem say SightQuest na big move to tackle the wahala of avoidable blindness and other eye problems wey dey affect millions of Nigerians.

Dr. Rainer no hold back as e talk am, “Dis partnership wey we dey celebrate today, go bring beta change for our people. We no just dey start any project, but we dey start something wey go dey last for long. Vision na critical health matter, and dis initiative go focus on access to surgery and health services wey fit reach everybody, no matter di area wey dem dey.”

Bash, no forget say CBM get plans to expand eye care reach more rural areas and underserve groups. All di talk na to ensure sey women, children, and disabled persons no go dey left aside. Dem dey work towards expanding cataract surgery and eye services wey go fit address any vision wahala wey people dey face.

Senator Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo wey dey represent di President of di Senate still yarn say health investment na key for national development. E talk say avoidable blindness no be just health challenge but moral issue too. Na im make im commend CBM for dis long term project wey dem dey embark on. “Na 10-year mission, we go fit see serious progress if we put in di right work,” e talk.

And make I quickly add, Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, don highlight di impact of vision loss on economy. Dem say di global economy dey lose $401 billion every year because of vision wahala. Na so e stress di Federal Government commitment to prevent any avoidable vision loss. Omoi Ozovehe Samuel, di Country Director for CBM Nigeria, don talk say dis programme go change di eye health landscape for Naija. “This na turning point for our eye health response. We go expand access to eye care, and make sure sey dem no go forget people wey dey suffer. SightQuest no be just about eye, but hope wey go restore plenty dignity for our people,” e conclude.

Dis programme go run from 2026 to 2035, with plans to cover states like Bauchi, Imo, Jigawa, Plateau, and Oyo. By 2035, dem dey target 30% increase for effective cataract surgical coverage.
