Benue Gov Alia Grant Pardon, Honour Murtala as State Turn 50

My people, una hear wetin happen for Benue State recently? Governor Hyacinth Alia don drop better news for we all.

As part of the 50 years celebration of our beloved Benue, di governor don free 14 prisoners, people wey don suffer for long. Abeg, no be small matter o! One of dem, Terhumba Aondona, don see him jail term reduce from 10 years to just 4 years. Hmmm, dem dey call am ‘mercy’!

The list of beneficiaries no finish there. Dem dey call Akaajime Imoter, Kongusu Terzugwe, and many others, wey dey lucky to receive this clemency. Na real chop dem just get as dem dey ova-happy right now. E no easy to come out from that prison wahala!

During di broadcast, Gov. Alia also talk say we go honour Gen. Murtala Muhammed for him role in creating Benue State. This man do strong work; na him time Benue come alive, on February 3, 1976. Omo, we go no forget as we celebrate our golden jubilee!

Alia say, “Dis man need to be immortalised because e contribute plenty to our state.” Na wetin we dey call respect for our past heroes. E too sweet to see leaders dey remember dem wey don work hard for beta tomorrow!

As e no stop there, di governor also rename Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation after late Chief Dan Agbese. This man na big journalist, wey don carry plenty stories for our community. Now, na true legacy dey follow am.

Even more good news dey shelle! Alia don talk say plenty prominent sons and daughters of Benue, both living and fallen, go get public institutions wey dem go name after dem. Big names like Wanteregh Unongo, Senator Suemo Chia and many others go dey shine for di state’s history.

The whole idea na to keep our history alive and show say Benue people no dey forget their own wey don contribute for political, social, and even intellectual development. Na beta thing dis wey go encourage our young ones!

So, as we dey celebrate, make we raise our glasses to di power of forgiveness and recognition. Na true growth and development be dis! Benue, we dey proud!
